Warning Others Who Might Want To Try Club Pilates

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

AWFUL EXPERIENCE! I had an awful intermezzo experience with Club Pilates between March 2023 and July 2023.

Having been a yoga lover and teacher for years, I've heard good things about reformer Pilates and wanted to try it. I decided it would be a safe option to go try 12 weeks postpartum and signed up for the trial class. After the 30 minutes class we got a 20 minute Sales pitch about their very steeply priced packages. I had intentions to think on it but was pushed into a sales package by a very pushy manager.

I decided to give it a try for the three months they make you be part of it and went for the lowest package, 4 credits for 4 weeks. Then the disaster began and I feel cheated and robbed of my money. The place I went to had no availability during the times I was able to go (Saturday and Sunday) limiting it even further by allowing me to only go to beginner classes. I ended up on waiting list upon waiting list.

They make you cancel 24 hours in advance and you loose a credit ($40) if you can't make it to a class. One morning I woke up genuinely sick and couldn't go to my class - a request to the manager to please credit me the class (the first I didn't cancel within 24 hours) was ignored. When I canceled other classes within the window the class was refunded to my account but I couldn't book it for another class because it needed to be booked within the month it was bought. But because there were no available classes ever I ended up giving the company over $500 and not getting back ANYTHING.

The few classes I was actually able to go to were alright but there was no community and the manager was outright rude and as money hungry as the entire company seems to be.

Don't make the mistake I made - save your money and spend it on your local yoga or Pilates studio that actually cares and is customer friendly. Club Pilates is an expensive RIPOFF!

Disappointed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I joined for a 3month trial (8 classes per month)only to find out that every time Id attempt to book a class that they were booked up. Beyond frustrating because I ended up paying for classes that I could never schedule.

I attempted to cancel early as I am moving PLUS couldnt find any classes that worked with my schedule. The manager was unsympathetic & merely said come by the studio and say goodbye before you move - seriously?! I cant use my class credits and I still have to pay for another month that I cannot use. I would never recommend this Club Pilates to anyone.

The membership plans are impossible unless you pay extra & get the unlimited package where you can book classes every day - therefore blocking others from booking a class. So disappointed!

I do not get the healthcare discount and when the manager is applying it now she says the rates will change. I want to be a lifelong customer and I think you guys should be able to honor that 10 percent discount for the ongoing rate for me. Please contact me back at 516661****

Membership. Cancelation. Refund.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My membership in Club Pilates Burke is recent. Due to schedule and health reasons, I did not attend any class in August, which I already paid for.

I canceled my subscription and received a text on my phone that my Pilates was canceled. I believed my 4 classes per month were canceled, too. On September 19, I was charged for another four classes. I reached out to the manager and told him I could not attend because of health issues, so I hadn't been to the place for a month and a half.

No one contacted me before being billed after not attending for so long. Why would anyone charge someone before verifying why they haven't been in? I asked for the charges to be removed or canceled, as it was then showing as pending. The manager replied in an email that he could extend the date for my classes.

I explained to the manager that that was not possible and that I could not attend.

The manager has yet to respond. I am a United States veteran, and at this point, I am disappointed at the service and communication provided thus far.

They changed the unlimited membership

Club Pilates - They changed the unlimited membership

Used to be unlimited never had a problem getting the class I wanted. Now as a UNLIMITED member I get 15 classes I can book at one time.

And to add to that I have 13 booked and it says I cannot book anymore.

So its not really unlimited is it. Total lies.

Pros:
  • Good workout excellent teachers
Cons:
  • Not enough classes to many members need to find a balance

Preferred solution: My membership to actually e unlimited again. 15 is not unlimited and I can’t even get the 15.

User's recommendation: I love this place but don’t bother paying for the unlimited. Go to a gym better bang for your buck or checkout workout pass app

Cheaper to buy a reformer and exercise at home.

You can book up to 15 classes max. That's not bait and switch smh, it's to control bookings. If you want to book 30-60 classes, decide to go on vacation and forget about them, or have to cancel last minute bc life happens, or not at all and get charged according to policy, bc you booked out too far, don't complain when the charges hit, and don't ask for refunds and a "break".

The same thing is happening with my Unlimited Passport membership which I've had for the past 10 years. I have always been able to book as many classes as I want at any Club Pilates studio.

The definition of "unlimited" is "not limited or restricted in terms of number, quantity, or extent." which is why I signed a contract for an Unlimited Passport Membership. I want to know how Club Pilates thinks its legal or ethical to put "limits" on an "unlimited" membership. I signed a contract to protect my interests and unlimited access to any classes at all Club Pilates. This is a form of "bait and switch".

You sign a contract for "unlimited" access to classes and then Club Pilates limits your access to 15 within a 60 day period.

"Bait and switch" is a form of fraud. "The FTC has issued a Notice that it has determined that bait and switch sales practices are unfair or deceptive trade practices, and violate the FTC Act." There are plenty of other unlimited members that are pissed about the action that Club Pilates has taken by limiting access to classes.

Difficult to cancel membership

They make it very difficult to get out of the contract. They seem to change the rules, so it isn't a simple 30 day cancelation notice.

I love Club Pilates

I'm not sure what the negative reviews are about. Club Pilates has changed my life physically and mentally.

I have numerous back problems which has been alleviated with pilates classes. I look forward to attending class each day. My balance has improved significantly and my life has improved exponentially. The number of amazing, empowering friends I have made through Club Pilates is amazing.

It's the best workout I have ever done. I highly recommend Club Pilates to everyone.

It is NOT true Pilates workout

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The teachers are good, and theyre trained pretty well. Ive been doing Pilates for 20 years and Ive been certified in three different methods.

I think Club Pilates is fine they just dont need to call themselves Club Pilates. It needs to be Club Pilates fusion or just another name that doesnt insinuate its JPs work because it is not!

Non-existent Customer Service, Rude Staff

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The instructors are generally very good. However, the scheduling system is terrible.

I was told not to worry about every class having a long wait list, that I would always get into the class I scheduled. NOT TRUE. I was told to leave a reformer because I was #1 on the wait list. I asked if a person doesn't show up can I attend class.

Yes, but if the person shows up 20 minutes late, I must relinquish my spot. Amazing.

You can only book a month's worth of classes at a time, so when the end of the month occurs and it's time to book the next month's classes, the only classes available have long wait lists.

I only chose this pilates studio because insurance covers it. The front desk staff person today was like a zombie, a rather plump person who seemed to take a kind of perverse delight in telling I couldn't attend the class.

In addition, you can't attend classes at other locations in the city without spending more money. Only your home location.

There is no customer service. One is relegated to speaking with someone at one's home location - these people are generally poorly informed or misinformed.

Their policies make me want to contact the federal attorney’s office where they are incorporated. This is a complete rip off of consumers.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They take too many members and then you cant get in classes. And if you get off the wait list 30 mins ahead of class and you now cant make it, you have to pay a penalty.

I am paying $279 a month for bad service.

It is a scam.

For instance my regular studio has over 500 members and 12 reformers. Its all slanted in their direction to make a fortune.

I think this is against the law and am thinking of a class action against them.

Preferred solution: A change in their strict policies.

I had a similar problem with the studio in Huntington Beach. I did the black friday deal.

I was constantly wait listed, unable to get into classes. I then had a family emergency,my grandmother suffered a stroke and elder abuse from the facility she was in, so i flew home to help my family. I notified the club and asked to cancel my membership. Stephanie who is the regional manager had no compassion and was unwilling to help.

She told me my options were to pay 100$ to cancel early or freeze my account and pay $259. I explained that i will be traveling to help my family and I was dissatisfied with the studio, she didnt care. I then contacted the BBB and my bank to dispute the charges.

Stephanie called me the next day saying I was going to be charged 20$ for every returned fee and 25$ "late fee". Then i receive an email sating i owe them 985$ by Friday and if i dont pay they will send me to collections.

I have tried multiple times to get questions answered with no success. Either no one answers, or are asked to leave a message (voice box full so unable to leave a message), and no help from those operating the desk at a club Pilates.

Changed Policy without Updating Customer Contracts

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Ive had a passport membership since June 2022 and Ive used it in many states including New York (& NYC). Recently (April 2023) I tried to use the app to book a class while I was visiting NYC and I was told by staff that I need a new upgraded membership in order to do so without buying single class passes.

Ive had my membership each consecutive month since June 2022 and I never signed a new updated contract, so Im confused why Club Pilates thinks this is okay.

Ive been unable to contact corporate despite many attempts. I understand if this is the policy going forward business is business after all, but I think since Ive had my membership and contract since June 2022 I should be grandfathered into the previous policy or receive the new updated membership as a courtesy to keep the integrity of the contract I signed.

To top this all off, after the app software update the process to sign up for classes has been a nightmare.
